In 2004, Lereko Investments’ founding partners Valli Moosa, Dr Popo Molefe and the late Eric Molobi, started working on building a leading black-owned broad-based investment firm.

AMB Capital provided them with office space and administrative infrastructure during this crucial formative period to enable them to achieve the laudable vision.

Shortly after its inception, Dr Lulu Gwagwa joined Lereko as Chief Executive Officer to strengthen Lereko’s managerial capacity.

Moosa, Molefe and Gwagwa have all held senior office in the public sector and have together brought keen leadership and relevant executive experience to Lereko to ensure that investments are made in a number of companies where a shared mindset of both commercial imperatives and transformation commitment have been identified.

AMB Capital and Lereko are strategic partners in a consortium that bought into Sappi Limited.  This partnership continues, even after a decade, as both companies have a stake in a venture with Sappi to do mixed use residential and commercial property development in Umkomaas and Richards Bay.
